I have always loved miniatures, right from an early age when my Dad helped me make my first, very basic bungalow style dolls house. When I was a bit older I used to pour over the Dolls House Emporium catalogues, amazed at all the finely crafted miniatures and wishing I could afford one of the big houses. I loved going round places where they had dolls houses on exhibition where I could see all the amazingly crafted miniatures, sometimes made by the best craftsmen of the time who made their full size creations in miniature, normally for dolls houses made for royalty.
When I got my own house I finally bought a big dolls house and started furnishing it in the Georgian period. It was when I started making my own furniture that I realised how much I enjoyed it and decided to start making products to sell as a hobby. After a few months of trial and error I had my first Georgian fireplace and from there I've grown and improved my range of products to what you see today.
I research, design and manufacture all the miniatures in my small workshop in North Cheshire. After being made redundant from my job as a Landscape Architect I am now working full time on JS Miniatures.
I have just launched a new website focusing on LED lighting for use in scale models from dolls houses to model trains and scenery and have started running workshops to teach people how to use them successfully in their projects.
